My guess is it's a small winter stone.

I am disrespectful to dirt.
Last friday (when it was 55) I saw an october caddis on the middle. Poor confused little guy.
There was caddis in my house a week or two ago.
Then it must not be too soon, at least not for it.lonnie i know what a caddis looks like and i know what a winter stone looks like. it is caddis
the inmates run this prison...
So it is a caddis. Now we need to find out if it's an early caddis or a late caddis. Then we need to decide if there are enough of them hatching that the fish will key on them.
I ski up Mill Creek a few times a week, and frequently see a larger caddis this time of year. Kind of an orange blond color, sz 10-12ish. In mid to late November, they are pretty prolific and visible all over the road. This bug is not the vaunted October caddis.
I had a lacewing crawling around on my tying desk recently. We have them all the time in the house in summer, but I've never seen one this time of year. A lot of people mistake them for caddis.
