just got me a fly tying kit for christmas and was wondering if there was an internet site that you could got to that has information on what materials are used to tie different fly patterns. for example like fifferent midge patterns.

Great site with VERY detailed tying instructions. However, you may want to get your hands on Jack Dennis' beginner tying video; very good introduction to materials and basic patterns.
