Does anyone know of or have a personal pattern that mimic's the Alevin? I would like to have patterns that follow the entire egg cycle. I fished last month with great success on a pattern of eyed eggs & am looking at following it up into the next cycle. So far with the Alevin pattern I have a dark glass bead then a single larger egg looking plastic bead & the length of a size 14 All Around hook wrapped with bright pink thread. I would like to get the egg sack to the back of the hook for a more realistic look but am having trouble with that. Also is there a good way of getting the bloodline down the side of the body? A pen just blurs into the thread.

I tie them with a hot glue body and small barbell eyes with a little glo bug yarn hanging from the chin. My brother came up with a patern that looked like a caddis pupae with a red head. It worked exceptionally well on the green in the glory days.It was best in a tan color in the spring and mint green in the summer.

Fry generally do not swim up out of the gravel until the egg sack is absorbed into the body. At that time I'd go with Jason's Baby Broiwn Trout pattern and as the summer goes on I would use my personal brown trout pattern.
The other thing is by the time the brownies emerge from the gravel the BWO are either in full swing or starting to hit full spead. Why waste your time on fry then?

Yeah, Your probably right Dave. But in these winter evenings I have the time & was having fun with a theme & particular materials. Also my tying skills "bite" so this was right at my level.
