I grew up in Bozeman and know South West Montana really well.

However, There is a job opening in Whitefish (Kalispell area) that I am considering applying for. I don't know jack about the area. I know there will be good fishing, but exactly what is there? How many drift boat sized rivers are in the area? Should I apply for this job, or keep waiting for a job to materialize in the Gallatin Valley?

I don't know, there are several places on the Provo that are small enough that with my boat in the middle my oars would hit both banks.

You know what I mean!

Anyone?

I grew up across the broder on the Idaho side. You have Lake Ponderaix right by Couer'dalene. It rocks.

Check out lakeside fly shop in whitefish. Spent a week up there in Oct and it was great. North, Middle and South Forks of the Flathead all hold good fish. The glacier national park has a book on just its waters.
Good luck, its great country but watch for the Grizz!
