But it's ok- I'm from Idaho :)
I'm gonna be in IF for 3 days at the end of this month and was wondering what the best stretches of river to wade are. I've fished it a few times, but always from a boat.
Thanks in advance,
Josh.

The channels around fall creek are a good start, easy access, plenty 'o fish. In fact, any where between between Spring Creek bridge & Fall creek ( & above) are good options. Don't hesitate to rope up some meat & probe around right below the dam, my 3 biggest from the SF have came out of there, in the fall, on streamers.

the river is still too high to wade.... unless you hsve a boat to get you into the braids.

How about around the 23rd of this month? I have heard the river should come down by then.
Thanks,
Josh.
Just above the braids is great. I marked the area the last time up there so I could find it again. Look for the pile of pop cans I sunk. They are right by the shore where I anchored down some fast food bags. If the water comes down you may have to find the spot by looking into the tree branches. I tied several styrofoam worm containers in the branches.
Good Luck!

are still in the 6200 cfs range..... I don't wade the south fork untill it drops somewhat below 1200 cfs, which usually doesn't happen until late November. Until then your best bet is a boat of some type. There are a few spots where you can fish from the banks, but to get to the really good spots you need to get out into the channels.... hence the boat.

Thanks everyone- I think I'll stop in at Jimmy's and see what John has to say. Maybe I'll just bag it and hit the Fall instead.
Take care,
Josh.
