I need some help - I want to write the weight and put my name on a rod I just built. I want to do it in silver - is there some sort of pen I can buy to do this?
here is a link to an old thread regarding writing on blanks

I have also used paint pens. It is hard to find them with a tip that is fine enough to write small. The last one I got at Michaels or some similar craft store. Wasn't quite as fine a tip as I liked but did a nice job.

A steady hand and model paint with a fine point brush.

I use gel pens (usually silver gel pen), but you have to put a clear matte spray over the top before finishing. You will find out all sorts of information about rod building on the following site: www.rodbuilding.org Try a search for "gel pens" or "blank inscription" and you should find a bunch of info on how to inscribe your rod. Hope this helps.

is right and taping the rod into a wooden 'V' block helps too. I also find it helpful for me to use something, a book?, to raise my hand higher so I'm writing straight down.
