I'm headed back up to the South Fork again, anyone that has been there recently I would love to hear what worked? Grizz,Stoney,Raposa.....anyone?

I'll have a couple of Rookies in the boat so I'm thinking I'll have them nymphing on the gravel bars. Since this has been the first year I've fished this river I'd love it if someon wouldn't mind shortening my learing curve on some proven patterns???

Thanks for any info.

Feel free to email me.

and I could spit and hit the southfork from here......... sigh.... but the word is PMDs in the riffles. Light yellow size 16-18 parachute patterns.... or a hopper and a dropper. I reccomend a size 18 tungsten zebra in size 18 tied to about 18" of leader off of the bend of the hook.

I would launch at Irwin South float down to the islands above Fall creek. Pound the snot out of the riffles for some hours and take out at the Swan Valley Bridge or Conant.

I would agree with Raspo. Work the gravel bars, cliff areas, just throw a hopper at the cliff and let it bounce off and into the water, anywhere it is shady. If your camping pick a site you can wade at. Break out your dark charnobles and fish the banks at night.

Stoney, what hours do you fish? What do consider night? I usually stop at sunet, is that too soon?

I guess that is up to you. If I'm awake and there is nothing going on around camp and I hear fish I'll toss the streamer or mouse till I get tired. A friend who lives in Idaho and fishes it on a regular basis says he'll fish well into the late hours, usually throwing Chernobel ant in the riffles or off the banks.

Have been working up there the past couple months, when I left the caddis were coming off and the chernobel ants were doing well a few pmd's in the evening.

Anyone know a website where I can get a hatch chart for the Southfork?

Try a cinnamon ant in the gravel, and transition zones. They work great.
