I am just trying to get back into fishing after working and going to school for so long. I have just tried the rockcliffs at Jordanelle, and have fished a lot at Tibble Fork. That is really all I have fished. I would like to try some places that I can use my pontoon and be able to catch some good sized fish that put up a fight. Looking for techniques that a beginner can do. Please any feedback and places to go would be great. I live in Salt Lake so it would be nice to stay somewhat close, but willing to travel a little ways for fishing.

Thanks.

Define "a little ways." You say good sized fish that put up a fight and don't want to travel to find them? Jordanell has some of the biggest bass within 50 miles or minutes for that matter. You can catch them on a fly rod. Just as Cheech, he'll show you how if you don't wear your pajamas. Sorry inside joke about the pajamas. It's not really a joke it's just a hurtful thing a bunch of them say to me when I wear the cool pants my wife bought me.

Next time you go to jordanelle launch at the personal water craft site and go out around the bouys. That works every time for me. Heck maybe I'll go with you next time.

Little ways = upto 2 hours. Other then that, I'm just cutting into fishing time. I do not get to go out a ton, so I want to maximize the time I have on the water. Strawberry would not be out of the question, distances like that.

I wouldn't mind trying Rockcliffs again. I heard it is a great place to go. That is why I wanted to go there my first chance out. We lauched off of that stone jet out that is there on the east side. All the parking was taken on the road and near the boat ramp. There were a ton of people on the water. Around 10A they all started leaving. By the time we went home around 8P, there was hardly anyone there.

I would be very interested in getting some coaching and suggestions on where to fish and what to fish. I need to get some ideas on how and what people put on their tubes/pontoons. I usually carry an extra rod, not the case this time, it was too big of a hassle. No place to put it, nets, storage, etc.

Thanks.
