Hello, I am going out to the Rockcliffs for the first time. I will be spending sometime on the shore with friends, but will also be taking out my pontoon. Can you give me any pointers on what to use and any other good information you can provide.

Thanks,
Bryon

I'm not an expert about Rockcliff by any means, but have fished there a few times. It seems that it is either on, or not on. Most of the fish I have caught has been with crystal buggers--black, brown, copper. You can try to wade out from the boat ramp or fish from shore, but it's going to be tough to hook up with a fly rod. Also, try near the inlet.

If it seems to not be very on, what should we do then? Move stay there, goto a different lake? I will have my pontoon, so getting out there shouldn't be an issue. I will spend time from the shore I'm sure, without my flyrod. Tried getting my dad out in my old float tube, but says he is too old for that! Bah...too lazy is more like it!

I guess it depends what fish you are targeting. If you can find the perch, you can catch a lot of small fish. I'd probably move around the lake until I found fish, but it might be better just to go up to the Uintas if you're fishing a lot from shore. Not sure. Wish I could be more helpful

Well I went this weekend. Very interesting. Very different then I thought it was going to be. I did get my brand new pontoon out. That was weird getting used to it. I have used my float tube til this point. All I could catch all day was perch. I was hoping for a bass. But, I did catch my first fish on my fly rod with a fly on my pontoon. Saw a lot of wildlife including a moose. I had a great time.
