Caught this guy in my front yard on a size 12 stimulator, yellow body. Fished subsurface at the junction of the the Bishops weed and vincula. Took me into the backing, he tried to break me off in some caves, but my 1x held and I slowly reeled him in. Second keeper in 2 nights. I'm telling ya, Utah is one hot spot for fly rat fishing!

Chill the wine, dinner 2nite is on me, honey!! What do you think, what goes with rat, red or white?

Now THAT is funny! Another great post jdubya. Right up there with the Provo River Adams. I also commend you on your excellent fishing skill. As far as dining goes, I find an Argentinian malbec compliments rat and other vermin nicely.

are encouraging the harvest of rats, they are getting to be stunted. Though i must say that is a nice catch.

It all depends on how you prepare it. If stewed, I'd go for a hearty red. However, stews are really more of a winter item. I'd try searing it in a peppercorn-sour cherry crust, finish it on a grill with applewood smoke, accompanied by a nice chardonnay (something with lemon & peach undertones, with a peppery finish...Kendall Jackson is a good choice).

Or, you could slather it in BBQ sauce & wash it down with a sixer of Country Club Malt Liquor.

we went with the bar-b-que rat on a stick model, and a couple of coronas. can't wait to cast out again tonight....might try roasting on a cedar plank!

You gotta listen for a little while, but it's in there....

BTW, if your offend by "F-bomb's" and other harsh language, this might not not be the clip for you to listen to....

Thanks mike. i realize some time my "humor" isn't appreciated here (probably because it isn't funny) but sometimes you get an idea you just can't refuse!

The funny thing about this is... I can picture you hunting down a rat, setting traps, going through this whole effort for the photo op. I mean, what if your wife or kids walked in while you were composing the shot, they'dve call the dudes in white coats, for sure.

I like how your mind works,

front yard. i've been off'ing them about one a day. virtually a rat's paradise thanks to my feeding of the birds, squirrels and deer (every seen a deer turn a bird feeder sideways into its mouth for a chew full of seeds? .

and cary, my family gave up on me a long time ago. as long as i hide when my kid's friends come over, i'm tolerated......
