I am headed up to the Big Sandy Lake area in the Wind River Mtns of Wyoming later this week for some backpacking. I have never been there. If anyone has been up there I would love any info on the fishing. I hear there are tons of skeeters up there but what else? :) I wonder if it is too early for terrestrials?

my email address is:

Thanks!

How have you been? How is life treating you? How long is your trip going to be? HAve you fished the BSF lately?

T4X,
things have been good. i am just trying to finish up my grad school and get a job. i fished the bsf two weekends ago; fun stuff. how are you?

as for the winds trip, we are going for four days. should be good, but maybe i should follow the advise from the other thread and use a goat or llama, cut my pack seems pretty heavy!

take care and tight lines!

I work with a guy that goes every year and pays to have his stuff hauled in one way and then they pack it all out on their backs, after all the return trip is the lightest load since you are leaving everything behind.

I would make sure you load up on Mosquito repellant. July is a bad month for them up there. Check out this webpage: http://www.windriverrange.org The best month to go is early September or mid August. If you have time take a morning hike into the Cirque’s.

The trip went great! And yes, there were swarms of mosquitoes; however, the fishing was excellent and the sites were impressive. We hit five or six different lakes and outlet streams and had a great time catching some fiesty little brookies and an occasional cutt.

Thanks for the info guys! I would highly recommend this area! Its great to be able to combine hiking and fishing!

Wow! That website is awesome! Is this your site? Are those your images? If so, you got mad skills with the shutter! I might have some cool stuff you might be interested in (3-D landscape images of Winds, etc).

Sounds like you guys had a good time. Thanks for the complements on the web page and photos. I took all those photos except for some that my brother took. I'm planning out my trip right now. It looks like the middle of August I'll be up there.
