I found my grandpas old fly fishing stuff, and his reel that i dont know what to do with, it's a Pfluger medalist reel, and i'm not sure weather to sell it, cause it has never been used, or to keep it, i hear that it is worth some money, but i dont really know anything about it. so i might just keep it, or do some dealing if anyone is interested in a old timer reel. let me know

I say keep it. My grandparents gave me a split bamboo rod with a automatic reel that had the silk line still on it. After some research I took some advise form several sources. I FISH WITH IT!!!! My grandparents love pics I send them with the rod and reel. I only use the rod in the best situations maybe 3to 4 times a years but it is worth it.

That was my first reel. It's one of those that take a licken and keeps on reel'in. I say keep it, it's a classic. I'm sure a lot of us on this board started out with a Medalist.

I still have 2 or 3 kick'n around here somewhere. A little heavy for my taste, but still a solid reel!

That was my first reel as well. I used it with a 9 ft 5 wt Pflueger Summit. I baught them seperately and the whole setup cost me less than $45. I still have both although I don't use them much. My younger brother uses them on occasion.

My uncle taught me to fish for Grayling using one of those reels. I still use my old Martin #63 for my 3wt. Use it and enjoy it.
