I'll be heading to Bear Lake in a couple weeks on an annual family vacation. I usually get to break away a couple half days to fish. I usually fish around the Red Banks area of the Logan, which I have always enjoyed (and because it is close). I am not very familiar with the area. From the lake I just head towards Logan and stop at Red Banks.
Are there any other streams or rivers in the area on the way to Red Banks, or close by?
A couple years ago we went to the Minnetonka Cave up St. Charles Canyon (Idaho). There is a little stream in the canyon. It looks pretty nice. Anybody ever fished it? Is it worth buying an Idaho day license?

there is fish in that little stream, but i do not believe it is open yet, last year it opened around the 24th of july, but it has been different, so i'm not sure when it will be open, and yes there are cutts in there, and yes it is fun. i've only been on once, and caught 4 or 5 fish.

Me thinks it is the ST.Charles. Logan is your best bet if you don't want to fish Idaho and I think then the narrows would be your best choice. Thats 45 minutes to an hour from where you are at to be on the water.

Thanks Crosby. I guess there is a sign that says Narrows???
If I remember right, Red Banks is about 45 min. from the cabin we stay in. How far past Red Banks are the Narrows (coming from Bear Lake)?

I used to have the same questions when I would go to Bear Lake with my ex's family every year. Eventually I found a couple fun places that might be just what you're looking for. E-mail at fishned69@aol.com for details.

Narrows are the Bear river- you would head north thru Paris and then take Emmigration Canyon or locally known as Strawberry over towards Preston. It's the only real river you will cross- it is 45 minutes away. Then it's either fishing right where you cross it, which is Mink creek bridge or go another 1/4 mile past that and take the right up into what is known as the Bear River Narrows or the Oneida Narrows. If you do that- go up to the top bridge and fish that area. It's about 4 miles up the road. It's below the Power plant and the dam.

You know the best fishing is always before opening day. LOL
