I was at East Canyon resevoir tonight. Summer also brings out the weirdos too. Be careful out there.

Too bad the pic of the rock didn't turn out better. It had hydroptilidae (micro-caddis) and Helicopyschide (snail case caddis). That was a great score !

I've never seen one before, outside of a picture. It'd be interesting to see one. Since you have a green drake nymph, I'm assuming that you were on the middle provo. Am I right?

adults poppin yet?
had some issues with the focus, but here is some bug porn for you.
Check out the size of the sculpin, it probably died of old age.
EZ, I'd be willing to bet you've been inches away from thousands of them at one point or another. When your rollin over rocks to look at bugs - keep an eye out on the bottom where the rock was, they will usually just lay there, motionless. Until you try and gig them with a fork that is, they are super quick and agile when they want to be. They are in pretty much every cold water stream around, best place to look is probably ankle to knee deep water with good sized rocks in it. Kind of like what is in the picture.

When I was about 8 years old I caught a sculpin with a worm and it sure did put up a fight, especially for the size of it. I had no idea what it was and it kindof freaked us out as kids.
By the way Steelie, your daughter did great at the casting competition.
