the spigot snapped just at the point it enters the rod, so the ferrule is fine. so i just need to figure out how to did out the base of the spigot without screwing up the ferrule, and then insert a new spigot. but i don't know....

putting it in a freezer for a couple of hours and then try getting it out. If you don't have a freezer big enough, try Ice water. It will cause it to shrink and it should come right out.

Hope this helps, Bruce.

Or. . . get a hold of T4X. He may have a rod he is trying to dump before the law catches up with him. . .again. LOL

Grizz, I took your advice! I pulled out of the garage an old zebco fiberglass rod I had. Drilled out of the graphite fly rod the broken spigot (in the second of the three pieces). Cut the Zebco to give me a piece that would fit, male to female, into the tip piece. Sanded the other end of fiberglass piece so it would fit into the end I drilled out (the Zebco is solid 'glass so was easy to sand. Then sealed up the glass with black marker and an epoxy spray. This gave me about 1 and 1/2 inches of spigot into both pieces. Epoxyed the end back into the second section, and bingo, back in action. Took a bit of cojones to drill out the graphite blank but mounted my drill in the vice and just slowly slid the rod piece into the drill bit.

now, how long will it last???

Should last for years if you don't use it.

Good luck with your fix, send the idea into Outdoor life and you may just get featured in the section for ideas.
