I'm thinking about a trip to Kodiak fishing the road system in early September for Salmon. Anyone here have any experience or info about this?
Thanks,

I have never been there however I just saw a special on it and it was about a guide that lives there and he was attacked by a kodiak bear and lived to tell about it. The sick thing is he was partners with some guy and he found him and didn't even recognize him. So good luck, I have heard the fishing there is quiet good and the hunting is supposed to be as equal. DON'T GET KILLED OVER SOME FISH. Although is there a better way to die???

Yeah but that can happen anywhere in Alaska. I've always thought I'll die from driving off a cliff while trying to spot good holes in the river below.

I have been there about a million times where you're trying to look over the stupid gaurdrail that is blocking the river perfectly somehow and you lose track of what you are doing and have to swerve back on the road. Ha Ha

Exactly! It's like the call of the Sirens trying to lure you to your death!

I've spent some time in the area but did not have the opportunity for any sport fishing, I was up there helping a couple of commercial fishers with their canning ops.
There area is beautiful, the folks are friendly and the food is great. The Vancouver Chamber of Commerce will send/mail you a outhouse full of info. and link you up with guides, hotels/motels/lodges/campgrounds etc.
Kodiak does have trout/salmon fishing but there are a lot of opportunities for good fishing north of Vancouver along the coast without paying ferry fees.
British Columbia has lots of mountains and lots of water and not a lot of population so it's not hard to fish good fishing.
Do not forget good rain gear, I'm sincere, one week up there and I felt it had been raining for a year.
