Awe just joshing Fred. I grew up in that country. Hillbillies scare me, born agains scare me, the Osmond family sing alongs scare me, Branson is, to me a very scary place.
Now the area around it once you get OUT of Branson is very pretty: nice slow rivers to canoe on and use poppers for small mouth bass. The tailwaters are very productive but watch out for FAST high rising water without warning. Elk river in southwest MO is a gem: look it up.

The world record brown came out of the White river witch I think is close by. It was 40 lbs 4 oz.s The best time to fish it is around February when they have a big shad kill and they get washed through Bull shoals dam. I have heard night fishing can produce large fish also. I have not fished the area but researched it for awhile as a destination for big fish. I decided on New York instead. I would try it if I was going anyway.
Well, the trip to Branson is fast approaching. Any other last minute thoughts?
From the research I have done, there are several trout rivers in the area--the White, the Lil Red, and Norfolk. The problem is the water flows are running high due to the fact that they release water when electricity is in high demand. For instance, right in the middle of Summer. When the waters are high, they aren't very fishable, from what I heard.
Guess I'll take my gear anyway. Also heard that Lake Tanycomo is fishable, but our boat will be on Tablerock.
I tried to sign up, log on and ask questions @

But, I couldn't get registered for some reason. Anyone ever use the ezboards? Not sure what the deal is.
Anyway, thanks for the tips so far. Maybe I'll just take JW's initial advice
