Has anyone ever hiked-camped into the third meadows on Slough Creek? What's the mileage and how were the campgrounds?

Jason,
I have a friend at work who does it every year. I'll ask him tonight.
But...he did tell me that last year they were stalked by a sow Grizzly for a couple of miles. They diverted their path to avoid her, and ended up setting camp in the dark while looking over their shoulders.
I would be suprised if a grizzly needed to do much stalking with all the people that hike into those meadow. Hell he could just lay down in some tall grass and wait for some foreigner to step on him, or better yet hide behind some of those trees and reach out and smack down a horse or mule on the trail.
Hell, all these storys are making me a little nervous, oh well, as that dude in alaska said, it would be an honor to be bear scat, he got his wish.

Why a human being would willingly hike directly into grizzly country to fish is way beyond me. I may do it with a rod in one hand and McLure's russian AK in the other. I think my fear of bears is what got me into warmwater fishing in the first place. You guys are crazy SOBs.
