New Virus/Worm - Warning

Be aware there's a new computer worm going around called the Sasser that will pretty much shut down your internet browser and email. If you get any emails telling you to go the microsoft website and to download your windows updates, don't do it. Just update your anti-virus software. It's not an email based worm but actually comes through your internet connection. Make sure your anti-virus software is updated and that you have your computer firewall up and running. I believe this is only for windows based systems.

My system freaked out on me...dumped my D drive, my modem, and F&#$ed up my vid card. I got all but the vid back up, but I now only have 16 colors. Is this the virus/worm? Or is my hard drive tanking? Any tips on getting my color back?

I did no updating, but it all crashed midway thru loading my new Garmin software.

You could have the Sasser worm for sure. It causes your system to run very slow and if you're trying to do too many things at once your computer will freeze up/ and or crash. You might have another worm/virus as well. You never know. If you can, get your virus definitions updated and scan your hard drive for virus' asap. You might have to load the patch via CD or disk since it kills your internet download connection. Not sure on your color issue other than check your Display settings under the control panel and see if you can change it to high color (16 bit) and see if that fixes your color/monitor issue.
