I just put the first coat on my rod. There are lump ends and some ends that arnt glossy like i want them to be. Is it ok to sand down the finish and apply another coat or am i just SOL. if i sand one of the wraps down would i need to sand all of them down? also if i can sand it down what grit sand paper. Any info on what i should do.

josh, you're cool. Ii usually two or three coats of epoxy anyway. the first i do thin so it always looks crappy. but by the second or third the gloss and form is uniform. so DON'T sand, it is just time for coat #2. just remember, less is better than more.
if you over did the epoxy on the first round, take a very sharp razor blade and CAREFULLY shave off the excess epoxy. don't nick the rod or the threads, just the epoxy. then in the next coat the cut part will fill in nicely. turning is critical for uniform wraps, so don't skimp on that.

thanks Jdub i definatly need to take the razor blade to some parts.
yes, you can sand the wraps, just make sure you dont hit the threads. use 400 w/d and wet sand. be very careful not to hit the blank. when you put the final coat of epoxy on, it will be clear.
