I was home tonight and spotted this little guy on the window. I scooped him up and began taking pics.
Shorter hind legs and speckled wings. Am I right on this one?

Nice pic Jay. Hmm, golf course ponds?
BTW, after you and Ed left me and Ken slayed em. Good times.

Great picture. I love that fly. It's beautiful man! Notice how light the bottom of the fly is? Hard to tie an imitation and keep the bottom that light when it gets wet.

Great photo! Good light and detail. 'Ain't technology wonderful'!
RAW, considering your abilities in weaving I wouldn't think you'd shrink from such an interesting challenge. Does the top even need to be a different color or would just a plain 'white' fly serve from the trouts point of view.
White quill body and white hackle with clear tails. A dainty old 'Miller"?

I'm wondering if a little lacquer under the fly would do it.
Here's what I'm thinking (I'm thinking out loud here...) Tie an extended body with lt grey/off white micro chenille. Before tying it in, Paint the bottom of the chenille with fexament or some other material to "waterproof" it. When it got wet the difference in saturation vs non saturated might just do it. Of course, the color might change when you lacquer it. Or how about this one. Add a little tint to your lacquer before you paint. Humm, I need to hit the craft store....

You're getting great lighting on those pictures. Does that camera come with the macro lens or did you buy it separately?

Standard feature on the Olympus C-750. I did not use the macro on this one however ;) Just point and click. I used my built in flash on the camera.

Tie the fly with light dubbing, and run a gray pantone marker over the top side.
An alternate, tie the body with a light biot, and pull over a darker biot, rib with thread or fine wire.
