I fished it the year before last. Had a lot of fun. It's very technical and you have to do everything perfect or the fish laugh at you. I found a couple fly shops in Boise that were very helpfull in picking flys and giving me tips. I would suggest you talk to them prior to going. The best advise they gave me was use a wading stick. Yea yea yea, I have wadded a river before. This one is different. The water is sooooooo....... clear, its like using a magnifying glass to see the bottom. When I got in I thought I was going to be in about 3 ft of water. I wasn't shure if I ever was going to hit bottom, went almost to the top of my waders. I thought I had a leak in my waders, in both legs. A wading stick would have been a good idea. You site fish mostly and you can see the fish in 4 ft of water about 30 - 40 ft away. The fish are large, the ones (2) I caught were both better than 3 lbs. but they do not want anything but perfection. I guess they think they are better than other fish. I had a great day and hope you have fun. Post when you get back, I would be interested in knowing how you did.

I fished there 4th of July time last year. Went to the Nature Conservancy stretch. Got there way early, at first light. Experienced a Trico hatch that was impressive. Had both duns and spinners and I think they were keying on the spinners. Went to Silver Creek Outfitters in Ketchum and they hooked me up with some tiny Trico patterns, like size 24. Required a downstream drift. There were so many rising fish, I stood in one spot for 4 or 5 hours. Required a perfect drift and presentation, but if I kept after it I could get some takes. After the hatch/fall tailed off, I switched to a beetle, at the advice of Silver Creek. Right away I caught my biggest rainbow of the day, and the fish actually moved a good distance to eat it. It was a big change from how picky they were on the tricos. Caught a couple more on the beetle and called it a day by noon. I can still hear the sounds of all those fish feeding at the same time. The bugs were so thick, they made a ring around my waders at water level that left a stain for several weeks. Going back this year and hope for a similar experience.

Glad to hear Silver Creek hasn't changed.
The water is very clear and you need to think of loooong leaders (12') ending in 6x or less.
Rather then a wading staff go to a athletic store and buy some knee pads and stay out of the water as much as possible and behind cover. These trout get hit.
Did I mention loooong light leaders (14' & 7x)?
There is a good fly shop in Twin Falls that can help you with hatch info, I can't remember the name, but it is just off the highway. Helpful aren't I. Well, it has been a few years since I fished it.
Good thing you're going up in August as it will give you time to practice the "S" and "Tuck" cast for downstream presentations.
Did I mention to use long light leaders (16 & 8x')?
Have fun.

That would have been preferable to all the leader building I had to do; and with the wind there half the time I was doing an imitation of a catapillar building a cacoon around myself.
I can you for certain, it wasn't any butterfly coming out of it.
