Cicada swap pics

I've got everyone's flies except DSW and those are in the mail! So I'll get the flies sent out by this weekend. Meanwhile, here are some pics if you want to take a look.

Where did you get those legs? I've looked for them but can't find them anywhere.

1. I bought those legs at High Country Flyfishers in north Salt Lake. They were not quite the legs I was looking for (I wanted the round brown/black stripped legs) but they seem to work ok. Last year the stripped legs were key a couple of times......

2. I am going to assume you are asking about the body on the big ugly black cicada and not on the turks tarantula. The body is made by cutting a piece of foam into a diamond shape, tying it onto the hook, glueing it in place so it doesn't turn/twist as you wrap it, and then wrapping it with black yarn once the glue has dried a little but is still slightly tacky (to hold the yarn in place). That pattern is one I invented and so some of the legs (on the early ones) tied up a little funny.

My addition to the swap was what I use during the cicada hatch. Often someting a little different makes it appealing. I have used this monster in a lot of other areas with great success. Thanks for letting me participate. DSW
