Took a suicide trip to the Juan over the past few days. (Left Wed. after work, fished Thurs, Friday, Drove back Fri. Evening)
My first time there. It was a great experience. There is an obscene number of huge bows in that river. I though everyone was probably exaggerating when they told me about the river. They really were not. Thursday was slow, but consistent. Hooked up with a reasonable number of large fish, but had to work for them. They were taking tiny (#24) red midges.
Friday was unbelievable. Early morning hooked up with a fish every 5-10 casts on a #24 Yongs Special. Then about 10 someone hit the switch and the hatch was on. The water was boiling. Took way more bows with a tiny parachute adams then I even cared to count.
Friday most of the fish were smallish (10-14 inches) with one huge bow thrown in for variety.
Worth the trip if you can make it.
