I've been thinking about this for a few days and Mike suggested that perhaps this would be a good forum in which to do this. As most of you probably know I concentrate on stillwater fly patterns but after a long 15+ year hiatus I'm once again interested in fishing rivers. I've been tying flies since 1972 and I can tie rather good nymphs, leeches, buggers, damsels... but I have no idea where to begin when it comes to drys, emergers, and whatever else you dry fly guys like to use for BWO's or PMD's or any other hatches.
So, I'm proposing to tie all of my best stillwater patterns in increments of 12 (3 each of 4 patterns) up to 48 flies on the first go-around if one of you really good dry fly tiers want to do the same in the proper proportions of your best patterns and tie for me the best dry and emerger patterns for the local hatches on rivers like the Provo, Weber, and Green.
I use only the best materials and Tiemco hooks and I'm a very meticulous and experienced fly tier and I want to swap with someone who is also a very meticulous and experienced tier and who also uses top quality materials. I also would request a recipe for each pattern and any special tying instructions for the patterns that you tie and I'll of course provide the same for my Stillwater patterns…
I'm contemplating a 1 on 1 fly swap with someone that could meet those requirements.
If you are interested, send me an email and we'll figure this out and get going…
