Hey I just got that package last night, I am pretty excited. I want to thank you guys for your generosity. I am going to start today on a whole bunch of patterns. the only problem is there are no addresses for anyone, except flysmith. I would really appreciate it if you would email me your home address so I can send a thank you card. Don't worry, I wouldn't try to offend anyone by sending money. If you guys could shoot me an email. I would appreciate it. Thank you so much again. I am looking forward to getting back and hooking up w/ you all. Sincerely, Jlee

Man am I glad you finally got that stuff. It was hard, laborious, difficult work rounding all that stuff up. Don't even start me on the line at the post office. It was eight miles long and I was behind a fat man that smelled bad. I should get some kind of metal. There should be a banquet held in my honour or something. It was still able to bring a smile to my face being able to get you the stuff that would help you take your mind off that terrible place you're serving.
Hey, man I'm kidding, it was fun. There wasn't even a line (the first ever) at the post office. You left out Lone Peak and nightfish as donators. A guy or two didn't indentify themselvs. We are all hoping you get home safe and can go fishing with us. At least for me that will be all the thanks required/demanded. At least the "get home safe" part if you don't want to fish with any of us bumbs then we'd understand.
If you did not get the home made cookies my wife sent along with the tying materials then your CO ate them. Too bad my wife makes great cookies.
Keep you head down and your spirits up.

i really wanted to thank everybody, but there wasn't a list of names and addresses. i still would like to send an autographed iraqi dinar, autographed by me, not saddam. anyway, i received the package that nightfish sent. that llama hair is awesome. i have allready tied up a couple of hare's ears, except w/ llama hair. i had no idea. anyway, please if you would be humble enough to let me, I would like to send a thank you card. if you really don't want to, i can understand that to, i will just have to hunt you down when i get back and go fishing. anyway, my email is <<jared.wright1@us.army.mil>> again these iraqi dinar aren't worth any money any more, it is more of reminder of iraq and way i have of saying thank you. also, the scuds are looking good, i can't wait to get back and attack the provo. jlee

Glad you got my stuff. Pretty quick postal service!
I sent you some olive llama if I remember. Try that for a nymph. A Llama grenade nymph...it's da bomb!
What is the recipe for that Llama grenade nymph? Also wondering if you can use an ostrich feather like a peacock herl. I am looking for a good use for that olive ostrich feather that flysmith sent, it is so cool looking. I tried it as the thorax on a copper john, looked pretty good. Anyway, take care and I will talk to everyone later. jlee

Glad to hear you have time over there to tie up some bugs. Don't worry, the Provo is still full of lots of hungry fish (maybe too many). When are you expected to possibly be home? Do you need anything specific that you haven't recieved yet to tie up some of your favorite patterns?
Thanks for all your doing over there!
Thanks grouser, but I am doing good. I am going to be coming home in a couple of months. Looking forward to hitting the provo as soon as possible. Also, flysmith, I hope you were kidding about the cookies, cuz I didn't get any. I am not complaining, just wondering if it was a joke. Otherwise, I might have to go talk w/ some postal people. Also, you aren't related to any raddons from Arcadia California are you. Just wondering. jared

Um, just kidding about the cookies. I am looking forward to fishing with you when you get home. I went with a fellow from this site tonight and showed him a few things about nymphing and between us we caught near fifty fish. The most successfull two or three bugs were a soft hackle bwo nymph, a thorax style bwo dry fly and Jakes Sow (recipe to follow).
Jake's sow is tied with rainbow dubbing. At the bend of the hook tie in small black wire, and a grey goose biot. Dub a somewhat slim body. Bring the biot forward. Wrap the wire for segmentation. Tie off and pick out the dubbing. Cant tell you why one of the easiest tieing sows is the best working. I know of one or two easier to tie but none have worked better for me.
STay safe.

good to know about the cookies, sometimes these mail guys will accidentally rip open packages and dispose of the valuables and edibles. Also thanks for the sow bug recipe, I have been tying up a bunch using nightfish's llama hair, and jay more's pattern w/ the palmered hackle. I am looking forward to getting back to utah and hitting the provo. I should be back in Utah sometime middle of May. I will defintly look you guys up and would love to go fishing. Anyway, dont know how many more times I will be able to post between now and then. They are taking away our internet tomorrow, and I will be forced into continous bug tying. Thanks for the recipe, and also was wondering what you were tying for a bwo soft hackle, I am a huge soft hackle fan, but mainly tie soft hackle pts and hare's ears in various colors and flash backs. interested to see what you do for a bwo, jlee
