Has anybody purchased “Guide sets” from Hook and Hackle?

http://www.hookhack.com/guidesets.html

I am going to be building some rod-blank.com rods and will more than likely go with the Traditional snake guides which are around $5.

My brother on the other hand decided to go with a Sage XP 590-4. On that same page they have Titanium snake guide sets which go for $30.

Is there really an advantage going with the more expensive guides?

What do some of you experts use for your low end and high end rods?

We have never built before and could use some advice.

I've only built a few, one of them I put titanium guides on. I really like the titanium guides so far, they are slick as a whistle. I'd definately buy them again.

I put titanium guides on my T&T, but other than that, I have just stuck with plain jane chrome guides. I love the titanium guides, but the chrome work fine. If I were building an XP, I would go with titanium. For a $15 blank, chrome.

The specs suggest you use some lighter weight guides (1/0t) in combination with some regular weight guides (1).

I've used the black $2 snake ones on the first few rods and then I picked them up for a $15 blank and i was like hum $35 in guides, tiptop, and stipper for a $15 blank. Now I'm using the silver $1 snakes.

I'm jeleous about the XP
