I am looking for a 2 or 3 weight small stream rod. I prefer winston or Thomas and Thomas. But I will take a look at just about anything. My price range is around $200. Please let me know by responding here or send an email to cody_nelson22@hotmail.com Tight lines.

Checkout the Winston Ibis!
I got it last year and I love it. I have a 4wt line on the 3wt rod... it is more that $200 but it is not the typical Winston price.... under $300.

I don't think you will find a Winston around $200. Unless it is very used and without a warranty.

Go with the Temple Fork. The least expensive model is only 80 bucks I think and it is a heck of a rod. By going with the best they offer in a 4 wt you are only at 139. I have a Temple Fork 7 1/2 ft 3 wt and it is loaded up with 4 wt line. I love it. I have a GL3 for my regular rod, and in all honesty I will put this rod up against it. Old Left has done a good deed here for the bargain fisherman. Get it quick though, because I can honestly see these prices raising when people find out how good of rods they really are. They will be selling like hotcakes!

vanilla, are you a rep or something? I dont mind if you are, just curious. I would like to cast their rods, do you know how i could set that up? Someone suggested i contact Rick, but I dont know who he is. I just bought a winston LT 5 piece 4 weight and love it. I want a 2 or 3 weight with a very soft tip for creek fishing. Let me know who to contact if you can (preferably a phone number.) Thanks again.

After hearing all of the hype on these rods I decided I better go throw one. I went to Hooked in Kaysville and wanted to throw the TiCr. They didn't have any. So I threw the Professional series instead.
Although I agree the price was great, and I was surprised how well it threw for a rod under $150, I'll definitely be keeping my GL3.
I'm just saying, throw one for yourself before you lay down the cash. Different strokes for different folks.
Rick has been the local rep for TF for 3 or so years and a lot has happened durring this time. Lefty Krey signed on as spokesman and has made some great changes to the rods, Dennis from www.flydesk.com and a few local shops have picked up TF up.
You can contact Rick via the board or shoot him an email rickl.peterson@netzero.net.
There are differences between the each of the 3 series so cast each series if you want to have a good understanding of what temple fork rods are all about. The thing I like about these rods is they offer another option for fly fishermen and women at a great price.
I personally own the 71/2 3 wt and enjoy fishing with it. I have fished this rod on many rivers and different situations. Do I say these things because I personally know Rick. Sure. This is because I know him well and he would not sell something of poor quality nor one that does not cast to anyone.
Vanilla, is there a reason you loaded the 4 wt line on the 3 wt? I know Jaymorr spoke to them and informed him that the rod weights are true rod weights but I would like to know what you think about it.

I hucked the proffesional series up against many other rod labels and found that I prefer the TF. I was so impressed with the rods that I bought the TiCR and put that up against a few other High End rods.
The TiCR is a favorite of mine. And I love the feel. I still think the Basic Series I (series) takes out many other rods on performance.
Like Danny mentioned to each there own....but dont over look TF. It is still one of the best kept secrets.
My only complaint is that they are not made in the USA.

PS. I'll put my TiCR up against the XP anyday on performance.

stonedfly,
No, I am not a rep. I would be if they wanted me to though (hint hint to anyone out there). Actually, I was given the rod by my grandpa as a gift, I had no input on what to get. He just got it for me, and I have been really impressed. I agree with the fact that everyone has their own favorites, just as you said Danny. I am not hanging up my GL3 (the best rod I've ever casted, imo) yet either. I just love this little rod for different situations.
Trav, like I said before, it was a gift, and my grandpa bought the whole set up for me. It came with the 4 wt line. He said that the rod had a fast enough action rod that it would be good with 4 wt. line, and it has. So I didn't choose to do that, and was prepared to buy 3 wt line if I needed it, but the 4 wt is perfect to me.

I like my St. Croix 3 wt. It does what I need it for and it goes for around $130-ish? I picked mine up on e-bay from a rod maker in Oregon.
