Anyone know if there are any sales right now on pontoons? I really want to get one for next spring. Any thoughts on the best make/model? Will be using mostly for Stillwater in UT/WY, but perhaps some river trips.

Rufman,

Last week at Fish Tech I saw a great deal on a couple of pontoon boats. I'm heading up there in a few minutes so if you want to send me an email later I'll let you know if they still have the boats.

Also the Orem Angler's in store had a couple of pontoons for a greeat price.

Check out Sportsman's Warehouse. They have the pontoon craft by Classic. They are great. I field tested a couple of theirs about 3-years ago and found them to handle well even in windy conditions.

Saw some good deals at Sportsman warehouse- I have 3 bucks- 2 bronco's and and x-bronco--- couldn't be more pleased with them- there is always things you would like to be a little different- and I have made modifications to them all- I float the whitewater section of the snake 6 or more times a year- and if they handle that - they will handle anything a fishing trip can put out. I have only been on 2 or 3 day trips with them but hopefully will get a 5 dayer on the Smith river in 2002. Just get something that will cover what you do most. One of my main concerns was the rowing rack and just what kind of torque you could put on it and the shape and ride of the pontoons. All of them I had to put on a different set of oar locks- haven't seen any come stock with what you need if you are looking at any rapids. Always carry a spare kit in the boat with one of everything that you could think of that could go wrong. Look at the cargo rack and the bag compartments- make sure they are what you want and that they come at no xtra cost. Should be a close out sale on the 2001 models soon- good luck but don't buy just to get one- get what you need and later you won't be displeased.
