How many times has this tent been used? And, how does it handle high winds? Looks a little too tall for extreme weather. Have you had it in heavy rain? If so, any problems?

thanks.

I've probably used 20+ Days. It does handle rough weather very well for as tall as it is. They had an ad running last year that showed it at the Everest base camp getting pummeled by high winds. I have had it in some heavy rain over the years and always stayed very dry. The floor is coated with rubber. It is big enough to have a table a chairs inside when it does rain. Kirkhams sells this model for $479 retail.

Most of my camping is now from the boat, this tent weighs in at 50" lbs and I need something lighter.

20+? Does this mean 50-60 times, Stoney?

When did you buy it?

The tent is 10 years old and was purchased for family camping trips. But we only went on a few as a family. It has not been used in over a year and then 2 years prior to that. If your interest Fred just e-mail me.

FYI-

I think the Springbar is hands down the best tent made. I've used one for over 20 years (mostly on the Green) and it has handled everything like a champ. Rain, no problem. Not like the old tents that the water would bleed thru and get your stuff wet. Wind is also a non-issue. Ours has been pounded by wind on the Green and it has never had problems. In fact, one time I was on the river fishing and saw a dust devil whip up and it made a B-Line right for our camp. It hit the tent (where my brother was sleeping) and collapsed down like a pancake and promptly popped right back up. My brother came flying outta the tent wondering what had happened. It was hilarious.

Anyway, they are by far the best tent I've ever used. I've had to get the zipper replaced, but that was my fault.

My 2 cents!!!!!

Sounds like a nice tent. Can you take carpet cleaning in trade?

Crimedog,

That's very generous of you to offer to entertain Stoney's wife for a couple of weekends, but wouldn't your wife get jealous? I guess Stoney could get some nice solo river time though.

Thanks, but no thanks. I need cold, hard, cash so I can purchase a lighter, smaller tent for river trips. This is a very good deal. I have a flier posted at Kirkhams. One of the employees' there said $300 was too low! and that I could probably get $350. This model sells for $489.00 new at retail, add tax and it goes for $522.00

Not sure what brand your looking at, but I purchased a Eureka Apex 3 man 4 years ago & have been nothing but impressed. $100.00. Plenty of room for 1 man & his gear or 1 man 1 female. Full coverage rain-fly, compact, 2 pole, rain-fly creates a small vetibule for drying up outside gear, sets up in minutes! Drys out super quick in that hot morning SF sun. It's been through some wicked hard wind / hail / thunderstorms & weathers like a champ.

Great boat tent. you'll never even notice its there whilst floating. For not being "expedition" grade, this tent preforms very well. just some food for thought.
