...I just finished it yesterday. Hats off to Cheech who turned the handle and the reel seat insert. Great stuff!!! Nice to do something a little different for a change.
Here's the finished product...

Just wanted something a little different. Plus I've always been a sucker for the Winston Green colored rods. Throw in a little green burl and it's a done deal. Of course, now that I think about it, maybe I'll do a red, white and blue one in July.

Nice work Curtis. I like it.
PS Based on what we learned at the dubbing party last night would you agree that the shade of green is BCS-6?

That is a very nice rod. I imagine you and I will need to go break it in soon. I can't wait until the ice comes off Scofield and Strawberry!

Curtis, that is nice!
Here is a picture of the burl grip and custome seat that cheech spun up for me.

Very nice rod Rod! Next one I do, I want to incorporate wood into the grip like that. And the color, Windknot only looks like BCS-6 in that light. It's really BCS-7.556 (a little known "secret" color the Borgers guard very closely).
I'm taking the rod for a test spin tonight with the new versatip line. Can't wait for the lakes to thaw!

cheech..
what are you doing to protect the wood? Are you buying stabilized blanks or just using a varnish?

wood protection compliments of teak oil, and spar urethane. Mucho protection there.
