Marshall at midcurrent brought my attention to a site that has an extremely high-quality image gallery of natural insects. If that weren't enough, the creator, Jason Neuswanger also has Quicktime video of naturals swimming around in their environment. Talk about educational. And like the Ginzu Knife - There's more! He has a gallery of underwater images taken of trout swimming around.
Just short of going to the river with a magnifying glass, I don't think you could get a better insight into the world of trout food.

BTW, you need QuickTime to view the videos and the files are fairly large, so a high-speed connection would help too.

Thanks for the link. This Neuswanger guy has fish on the brain like all the rest of us.

I just downloaded some of the Quicktime video and almost wet my pants. They're large downloads but well worth it.

Always up for looking at some insects. Especially if it includes the fish that eat them! Pass the hoppers please.

The quicktime is nice. This guy has too much time on his hands. ;)

Hehe, there's no such thing as too much time on one's hands! :)

JSchilt, thanks for posting my site here. I always appreciate free publicity!

I've discovered a lot of new fly fishing message boards across the Internet since I've made my site public. I get to see a list of URLs referring to my site so I've been trying to stop by each of them and thank the people for posting and see what they've said. :)

I'll continue to make lots of improvements throughout the season! In fact, tomorrow I plan to go out in search of more underwater photos of trout... I know where to reliably find some wild browns.

Jason,

I know quite a few of us are starting to get in to collecting. If you would ever like some material from out here, let us know. It's always interesting to see what's in another part of the world. Maybe we can work out some trades...
