I fished the Weber Today and notice a good midge hatch, but I also noticed a few BWOs floating along in the water? Tell me that im wrong. They were probably in the size 16-18 hook range. They had a forked tail, body was a brownish color with grayish wings and red eyes. Im still new to figuring out what is what, but I had my Orvis Streamside guide with me and the picture of the BWO looked to be exactly as the ones in the water.

Look familiar at all? It is getting to be that time... You wouldn't know it with the temperatures in the SLC valley though.

They probably were. I picked up a few fish on BWO patterns on the Weber on Sunday. It's not unusual to see a few on warmer days. If I'm having problems "matching the hatch" during a midge hatch, I'll often find success if I resort to a small BWO pattern.

I wouldn't be surprised. I saw Baetis out on the Provo in early January in 10 degree weather. Not a lot of them, but they were there.
