I have one friend that is a sow bug demon (BigShane on here) and he ties the funkiest sow bugs and can catch fish out of mid air with them but I cant catch with them so here I am asking all of you what your favorite dubbing mix is and what your favorite pattern is.

I saw buddy at SW one saturday tie a sow pattern that took him almost ten minutes to tie. It takes me almost twenty and I fished it with no improoved results so I am looking for a patter a bit easier than that one.

Please help.

FlySmyth.

PS I did get some of jasons mix from Lone Peak last year and that works. I would like a few more maybe that work as well.

I like the mix that Greg has down at lone peak. It works great. I also like to use a natural dubbing in different colors.

One of the sow patterns I tie is basically a dubbing loop on a hook with the hair teased out. No back material or fancy beads. Takes about 1 or 2 minutes tops. I haven't done any empirical testing, but they seem to work as good as my fancier patterns.

I have been using the pattern you just discribed for the quite some time. If you lightly put the dubbing beween the the two threads and spin it very well you shouldn't have to pull any dubbing out.
