Nice light/magnifier combo on sale at Feather Craft. I've been thinking a magnifier might be nice instead of fumbling around half-blind on size 24's. Any other old fart like me use one? Anybody try one and hate it???

I have used one- just never could get used to where my hand was at when looking thru it. Just reading glasses worked best for me, though I know those that do and can deal with it- just threw off my depth perception.

I have one, and I like it.

However, I do not use the lense when I tie. I use it afterwards when I want to clean the fly up. I also use the glass for other things like looking at real bugs and looking at flies other people have tied.

The light helps a lot too.

I think you will like having one.

I just picked up the ott light and like it a lot. I would prefer a brighter bulb for it but it works fine. It has an 18 watt bulb that works just fine but a brighter one wouldnt be so bad. I would opt for the glasses myself for tying and it would also double in the field for fishing as well. I think that the attached magnifier would get in the way when tying IMO.

I've used Mag-Eyes for the last 2-3 years. Sure helps. But I haven't got used to looking through them with my regular glasses. I end up taking my glasses off and getting them lost on the table somewhere.

Just quit using my magnifier light yesterday. I went to a head piece mag and a 20w. halogen lamp. Its better than having so much "stuff" between you and the fly. I'm getting old and blind had to do something.
Also went to a rotary vise, something new to learn.

Even though I don't really have a real need for it, I tried using one for a while and just couldn't get used to it. I also became obsessive about the way my patterns looked that close up! Sometimes flies are better a little blurry...

Is that something like..."The girls all look prettier at closing time"......?

I will play with the idea now and then, still trying to work together with the lens, hands & face.

I do like the light on the lens!
