Well I guess it's been a while since our last meeting so let's try and meet up this Wednesday. I've talked to a few guys and we thought it would be cool to focus on some smallmouth patterns.
If anyone has some good smallie patterns or you just want to learn or shoot the breeze, drop on by. We'll plan on Lone Peak in AF (if that's ok Greg....)
So Wednesday at 7pm at Lone Peak for Smallie patterns.
Any takers???
Here's a picture from one of our last meetings (L to R: Jeff Brooks, Sumner Newman).

Wed. at 7:00 it is. This is open to anyone, whether you tie or not or have tools or not. We will provide tools if neded.
Has anyone tried the new tippet material, does it work. The reports that are coming back so far are very positive.

I'm going to try to come. Not sure yet but would like to be there. Wonder if Cheech would make the drive since he's a warmwater lover?

It's about time you guys got with the program;) I think I might just have to make it for this one. Providing my wife doesn't go into labor before then, I'll try to make it. How far of a drive is it to the shop?

Its about 10-15 minutes from where the Bangerter hits I-15. Just go up to exit 279 and head into American Fork. Turn right on State Street and go up to the first light (I think). It goes into a commercial center that has Gold Gym's and gware's place.
Tell your wife to hold off a little! :))) Tell here that's what MW said to do! That should go across well during the last few weeks of pregnancy!! LOL

Well looks like we're going to have a good tying session tomorrow, especially with Cheech in the mix. Again, anyone else is welcome. We'll start at 7pm.

Crawdads are one thing I really am interested in tying. But, I'm goin' to another meeting tonight. Wish I could make it down - I'll definitely miss it!

I'm working on a tutorial for this pattern. As soon as I get a CD burner, I'll burn you a copy.

Can I help? I have my laptop with me most of the time and would be happy to burn something. If you like we could do a small mpeg video as well. I have a DVD burner on this thing too and we could rip something on to a disk. Let me know Cheech. ;)

Jaymorr. We'll have to hook up sometime. I'll bring you my memory card sometime.
It was cool to hook up with the fellas from Utah county. Lone Peak isn't as far as I thought it would be. We tied crawdads, midges, etc. Fun stuff. Thanks again guys.

Yep, it was a lot of fun. I'm getting some more of those crawdad patterns tied up soon. Cheech, you've given me the "bass bug" more now, so we'll need to hook up and go after some bass sometime.
Have the days been set for the Pelican trip?

I think the dates are May 21-22. There aren't any crawdads in Pelican though. You'll have to tie up some of those arctic fox minnows I was showing you guys. They slay. Those craws should work at your smallie lake.
You have to make sure you bring Herb with the herbivore pattern.

Indeed. When you get a few hours for the upload, maybe you can shoot us a picture of that Arctic Fox minnow. I want to tie up a mess of those.
Herb, do you work this weekend? I might try doing a Saturday night tying session.

Very nice cheech. Now do craws swim or crawl along the bottom? How do you fish it?

I tied the hook upright because they like the bottom, rocks, ledges, etc. This fly will ride hook-up because of the barbell eyes. You can fish this pattern fast or slow. craws can really swim fast, but when they are walking, they are pretty slow. I need to get a dozen or so to pass out. I haven't fully experimented with this fly, and I need some testers. It has to be in a place where there are bass and craws. Hopefully someone from the midwest reads this;)

Thanks for the fun times last night. I had fun talking with all of you and watching cheech tie. Next time I will see about sticking around longer. Cheech, your patterns are awesome!!
Let meet again so I can schedule more time to tie.
Gregg, thanks for letting us meet at your shop. You have a great shop.
