Hey Cheech or someone else,

I've been wanting to try the patriot for a while. I remember reading about it quite a few years ago in FlyFisherman and Charles Meck recommends it a lot. (He may have originated it for all I know!) I found a web site that had a picture a while ago but can't find it anymore. Do you have a link to a picture or pattern somewhere that I can look at? It looks like a nice color-oriented attractor/mayfly sort of pattern. (Nice ambiguous description eh!) Also, if you're willing to divulge the info, have you had much luck with it and if so, in what types of situations does it seem to do well? I think I remember reading it was fairly good in high-light, no specific hatch type of situations but I can't remember. Thanks in advance.

Spencer at Orvis turned me onto it. I actually took some pics of it last night, but my connection takes 3 hours to upload anything. I think it is on the Orvis site. You are talking about the attractor dry fly right? I like to fish it in small streams with aggressive brookies and browns.

Patriot Attractor Fly: Hook-dry style #12-18. Thread-Red. Tail-light deer hair. Wings-White calftail split(any white wing). Abdomen-Krystal Flash-Smot Blue(Blue). Mid Section-red thread. Throax-Krystal Flash-Blue. Hackle-Brown.

Sorry I'm short on time but the tying sequence is straight forward. If you need further help I'll try to repond tonight.
