First off make sure it isn't split. I have seen a lot of people repair the tip and have it brake again do to the blank has a micro crack or split. I use a carpet knife razor blade. They are very sharp and will give u a clean cut, But then it all depends the rod and the broken tip and what they look like.

if you have, or can borrow, a dremel tool with a cut-off wheel, you might be able to get a clean cut. LPR is right about splits, graphite blanks have little resistance to fiber separation once a break occurs, with the exception of some of the woven-type blanks such as graphite USA or diamondback.

Sometimes its hard to get a clean cut with a razor blade, without causing more spits. If time isnt the essence, I'd send the blank back for a replacement, if thats an option.

When cutting a graphite blank, I think it is best to wrap the area to be cut with masking tape to prevent splintering.

Had a good rod with no fancy warranty break off about 7/8" of the tip once. I used the heat of a burning match to heat the tip guide then pulled out the broken graphite piece. Took some 2 part epoxie and glued it back on the rod. I couldnt tell any casting difference, but I am no expert. Its still together as of today.
