We will be having our first UOTFly Tying Club meeting on March 14th at 6:30pm at Western Rivers Flyshop in Salt Lake. IT should be a lot of fun. We're very excited to see how it all turns out.
Right now our tentative schedule is to start at 6:30 and discuss what the club will entail. After that we will of course get down to some tying. The theme for the night will be favorite Springtime Green River flies. We figure since there will be a lot of us hitting the Green soon we might as well share some of favorite patterns and tie them up. If you have a favorite pattern you'd like to share, bring some extra materials to share with everyone. I'm sure Mike will be tying up his Gorge Burger Midge.
If you are planning on coming please send me an email to RSVP. TIE ON!

That's awesome you could set this club up. Sounds fun. Are there any updates on a meeting place and time for Ogden or Utah Counties?

Low Country, (Steve @ High Country FF) will be posting in reguards to the Ogden Chapter of UOTF Tying Club.
Jason and Milke, If Steve has the time, I think we will attend your first meeting to get some insight on what direction you are going so we can conform.
Can't wait to get things going!

Anyone that is planning on attending the Salt Lake tying club meeting Thursday night please send me an email or post a reply. (jason@utahonthefly.com) I need to know how many people to expect so we have enough room for everyone to tie. Thanks.

Lowcountry (a.k.a. Steve),
Having a Northern Utah flytying evening sounds great. Can I relay the info to some of my local TU members?

Steve,
I would be there on the 20th, but Ed Kent and I are doing a couple of presentations to the Cache Anglers that night. Probably won't be back in the neighborhood until about 10PM.

I pretty much suck at tying but was wondering if I may come and observe?
MWS: I don't know how entertaining that would be, but please show up if you like! Maybe it'll get you into another fly fishing hobby.

Collect your tools and come tonight. We can sit and fill inadequate together.

I didn't read your post properly MWS! If you tie, then you should definitely show up! I am not a great tier by any means. Skill level has nothing to do with it.

That's why this is going to be fun....skill level is not important. Just some folks sitting around tying their favorite patterns. Personally, I'll be tying easy midge patterns tonight that others (Mike) have shown me. I always learn something when I tie w/ others irregardless of their respective skill level.

The eyebrow might not render enough hair better try a dry in a size 20. I'm sorta partial to anything in a parachute.
