O.k. I've been trying to catch a crappie for way longer than I care to admit. I'm wondering if anyone could help me get on one before it's too late.
I've fished Pineview a half dozen times this year, from early spring to about a month ago. I haven't even seen a crappie caught.
Willard used to be a great crappie fishery, but I haven't seen or heard of a crappie being caught there in years. (Though I'm sure someone has caught one)
I'm looking for someone who can help me out. Are there other places in Northern (or southern Utah, other than Powell) where I'm going to be able to catch a crappie? Or, are there specific locations on the lakes I've mentioned, where someone with experience fishing for them this time of year would be willing to share some info? Maybe even share a fishing trip to catch them.
Details would be greatly appreciated. Drop me an email at stout_trout@comcast.net

Both Quail Creek Reservoir and Gunlock Reservoir have crappie...can't help you out any more than that though.

Quail creek could be an option on the first weekend in Oct. Thanks W2U.
Senor... are telling me you have caught a crappie at those ponds? If you have... we need to talk.
Juke - Is newton in the Logan valley? Doesn't it have Muskie too? What can you tell me about Newton?

Which one are you fishing?
I've caught gils, sunfish and lots of largemouth there...but I've never seen a crappie there. I've fished the east pond almost exclusively....

I got a crappie out of the I-80 ponds as well.
Ask Cheech, He saw it up close (fish wars)

True story. If MWS can catch them anybody can...except me.
It has been awhile since I fished it but it has:
Largemouth
Black Crappie
Bluegills
Green Sunfish
Tiger Musky
Channel Cats
Carp
White Suckers
Koi
and maybe a few more I do not remember. It is very prone to drawdown by irragation. I remember hearing something bad had happened this year. Maybe someone in Cache Valley can give an update.

Don't bother on going over there. It's gone. There are a still a few fish alive, but their lives are soon over. Crappies were very very abundant there earlier this summer, but 1000's have since deceased.

That kills me. I've been trying to catch a good number of crappie for the past two seasons... and I find out there WERE a lot in Newton.
Are they draining it or is it just from irrigation?

Irrigation- it's a swill hole- though there are some nice cat tracks around it.

I've tried to catch a walleye all year. So the day I decide that I'm going to try to catch a crappie...I catch a walleye.
Don't get me wrong... I'm estatic that I finally caught a walleye! What a cool looking fish!
Anyway, Thanks to everyone for the suggestions.

I've heard the same. I was in the river..just before the lake.
I've wanted to fish lincoln beach but I wouldn't know were to begin. I've never fished it.
Maybe we should hit it one day after work. I work in Springville.

Believe me if you just drove around there (Lincoln Beach) it would be very easy to tell, just before dark or early in the morning there are shoulder to shoulder Cambodians tossing jigs, It's called the "L" or just beyond that about an 1/8 of a mile is a large flat.
Water is very shallow.
Unfortunetly I'm currently working swing shift, but would like to go sometime. I was down there last weekend and a guy showed me a 28 inch eye. No lie I helped him measure it. Beautiful fish...
