I think Liv2fish has suggested having a club out of High Country in Ogden. If you're interested, stop by the store. If we have enough interest, we can hold it after hours and we might be able to get a discount on tying materials too. Let me know.

Steve (aka lowcountry),
How many do you need to start a club? I am interested and I bet I can get 12 more interested too! My whole fire dept. would come up! Since you live in Clearfield area, (which I do also) these are the guys in blue.... Bunch of them are ffer's.. That is fly fisherman not the other ffer's

I think I agree with Jason B on this one, seems like the only thing we have to offer people from S L County is the Provo River. 8^0
What about a club in Utah County?
If it's at High Country, count me in. I would enjoy a tying club.

Well, initially I would establish something here in the Salt Lake valley. I guess we could setup a Weber County and Utah County tying clubs as well. That would be awesome. I'm sure we could have some great response in this. My first thoughts include meetings once a month for general fly tying, guest speakers/tiers, and whatever else comes up. It could be a lot of fun. I'll let everyone know when the details are finalized.

I would be very interested in Weber or slc. It would be a good chance to hook up with some new buddies as well.

I wouldn't mind meeting up with those that live down here in utah county. Mr. T lives this way as some others. If we could arrange someplace to meet and hook up and swap some flys and storys.

I'm up for that. High Country would be a good meeting place in the Ogden area. Steve(Low Country) How does Dale stand on the subject?

Steelie,
I have room for that many, but not to tie all at once. We will have to take turns or something. I have one table that fits about 10 people tying at once.
Bruce,
You know Del, and the bottom line. As long as I'm there, he wouldn't have a problem. We will have to schedule it between the tying classes that are taught by Paul Stimpson.
We can start this up as soon as you all are ready.

Lowcountry,
Let me know when you think it would be good to get together? I have several places we could meet as well....
Jason

Well, it's settled. I've talked to Steve at Western Rivers in Salt Lake and he said we could meet there once a month. I'm thinking the 2nd or 3rd Thursday of every month. As soon as I get the final details I'll let everyone know.
As for an Ogden club, I'm sure we could put together a UOTFly Ogden Tying Club as well and meet at High Country. I'm thinking Steve (Lowcountry) will probably head this one and make all the plans, etc. Steve or myself will let everyone know.

Um ok, sorry to offend you mike.
Jerritt -- no worries! It didn't offend me or anything. It was just a request! Welcome to the site!
The SLC club is firming up and will almost certainly be a reality. Western Rivers was gracious enough to offer us some space to get together and practice our tying skills. Just another reason to like WR! I'm excited to get some dates and times worked out. More info as it becomes available...
Other locations seem to be coming together as well, but I don't know enough to positively say anything as yet.

Jason, would be very interested. I think it would be beneficial to all who participate. Just think of the fish stories we could tell while tying.....I have some whoppers...no not burger king....

I would like to participate in a tying club in the Salt Lake area. I especially like Jason's idea about once a month with guest speakers and the like.

I live in Salt Lake, and would love to join a fly tying club. If rookie's are welcome. I also have a cabin at Vivian Park that would be a prime location to host a Utah County Meeting. It has a big open room that would hold several tiers and is yards from the river where we could test out the flies. I would be more than willing to provide it once a month for the small price of some good fly tying tips. Just putting it out there as an option, I'll join regardless of location.

I think it would be great to get together and pick up some tips from other fly tiers. I may hook up with Jerritt and see what Utah county is up to.

Count me in! I would love to meet some of you guys and share some patterns I have been using for years for Tiger, Brook, and Brown trout. Not only that I ‘m always looking for some other great patterns like this Yong special everyone keeps talking about.
If we need somewhere to meet, I may be able to swing a couple locations in the Spanish Fork area. You can e-mail me at Bigfish@sfcn.org with any information of news on when the fist meeting will be put together or if you need me to look into a location. Better yet post it on this site and I will for sure see it.

I think that Utah County is going to get together on the 27th of March?
Jason B has the Info.
I think that Pathaws is going to loan us the use of his Cabin in Vivian Park to tie some up, Jason B has the particulars.

Windknot or "Knots" for short, nicknamed by a good friend with a lot of patience teaching me how to flyfish. I've been reading posts for a while here, now just coming out of the woodwork. I figured if a fly tying club made it's way to Utah County I shouldn't miss an opportunity to learn from the "Wise"! So if you don't mind, I would appreciate learning some patterns and techniques. I may not be able to contribute knowledge, but I could definately bring refreshments!!

Hey knots, I would be glad to show you anything you need help with. I have planty of tools and materials. As a matter of fact, my wife thinks I should start stocking some of the local stores with all the inventory I have. If needed, you are welcome to use my stuff to tie flies with, even my hooks and my vise.
I don't mind sharing what has taken my years to learn with others, especially if they are willing to bring some treats. E-mail me and I will get you a starter kit going. Do you have any tools or would you like me to throw some of the basic together for you? Let me know what I can do to help you.
By the way, I really like Rice Krispy Treats. Yum Yum

I would also be very interested in attending the UT Co tying party. I sure could use some expert tips and techniques. I've been tying for a while but being self taught you miss alot of the tips from others. I would be glad to bring treats as well. Sounds like it would be a lot of fun and a good opportunity to meet some of the gang.

Thanks "Fishn" for the offer. I have just a few materials. I can tie a decent pheasant tail, and bugger patterns. I'd like to learn that Yong Special as well. I can't figure how to twist the thread, especially on a size 20. The rice crispies are yours. Any other requests for refreshments?

The cabin is number 6671 and is 3/10 of a mile up the road through Vivian Park. We are planning on 6:30 on Wednesday the 27th. Sounds like it will be a great chance for everyone to get together and share some patterns etc. No real agenda other than that. Bring whatever you want, tying stuff, food, whatever. I'll try to have the walk shoveled and at least a couple long tables and chairs. I cabin hasn't been used all winter so you'll have to live with the slight musty smell. See you all there, e mail me or Jason B if you need more info. patrick.haws@ut.ngb.army.mil
I would be very Interested in joining a fly tying club. For me it would probably depend on how far I had to travel. Salt Lake Valley or Ogden sound good.
Rlee: We've already had a successful gathering of tiers down in Provo canyon, in SLC proper and also up North! They won't be the last. Just watch the forums here for future dates and times.
