cdc puffs

Where in the world can I find some dark green or gray cds puffs? I have been to fishtech, anglers, sportsmans with no luck? Any online sites where I can order them in bulk?

Never seen those colors either. I have some olive and light dun. Maybe try using a magic marker or dyeing them some how.

The marker thing might be a good idea. Does it have any adverse effect on the floating ability?

I cheat and use tufts of Marabou instead of CDC. Floats reasonably well and available in all sorts of colors.

I don't know how it affects the floating ability or the smell. Seldom do it myself, but know others that do. I guess, if you can't find anything, it might be worth a try.

Try using polywing as a CDC substitute. I've create several Caddis, Mayfly and midge patterns using the stuff. I'd be happy to provide you with the recipe...
