So, the season is more than half way over and I'm wondering where everyone is in this challenge.
Is there a target species that you are currently working on? Perhaps one that you recently conquered? Either way, give us details… there maybe someone else who has just finished that species…or is looking for tips on a species you just bagged.
Personally, I'm haunted by several species, but I would say the walleye is still at the top of my most wanted list (of course I want a tiger muskie but I'm not feeling very hopeful about that one).
There are several "easy" little fish that have proven to not be so easy for me…crappie, white bass, and perch.
What about the rest of you?
I've caught trout and whitefish and grayling.
I have not caught any golden or tiger trout.
And, the graylings and brookies I caught were out of state. So....guess I'm up to five or six points or something like that. LOL.
Am I far behind you Stout?

Aren't you forgetting the non-trout and non-char species?
I've caught a few more species than those so I do have a few points...otherwise we would be really close. :)
come on Fred...if you want to catch some warmwater fellas, send me an email and I'll point you to some.
I know that there are guys who without even trying have a ton more points that I have, but...for me it has been a pretty constant effort and as of right now I have 12 species and 35 points.

I think I'm at 11 species with 32 points. I would really like to get a grayling, splake, white bass, walleye, and catfish before the end of the year. Unfortunately I'm running out of time and may not be able to do it.

I've got the big 4 of trout (brown, cutt, rainbow & brook), & just got my tiger this weekend. Others include: whitefish, largemouth & bluegill, putting me at a whopping 17 points. There's a possibility of a day trip specifically for Grayling in a couple of weeks. Jason, if you're interested in joining us you're welcome to.
My most wanted right now is probably a Wiper, followed by smallies & carp.

IMO wipers ARE all they are billed to be. A super fun fish!
They have been the funnest new species of fish that I have caught this year...by far.
With one fly you could quite possibly get all three of those species at Willard. I have fished a pearl/white zonker with yellow doll eyes almost exclusively. (I'm sure there are a dozen flies that would produce as well or better though.)
I still need to get back to get a walleye so maybe we will need a UTOF Willard trip before the season is done.
I know Reg, EZ and others are the real wiper masters.
Stout,
Thanks for the offer. Unfortunately, I am so busy during the next several weeks that the most I can probably do is an afternoon trip to the provo or weber. No stillwater fishing in my immediate future.
The wiper fishing does sound interesting, though. I will have to try that some time. As for your quest, have you looked at the Utahfishfinder web site for more info on Walleye fishing and wehre people are catching them right now. And Drewtrout seems to know a lot about those tigers and crappie up at Pineview. I guess its not really the best time of year or something? The perch should be relatively easy if you go to Rock Cliff.

so far I have got most of the trout (rainbow, cutt, brook, brown, lake, splake, tiger) along with a couple of mistakes (perch, white bass, carp) and a small mouth (40 pts.) I really don't plan on catching anything else. I might still be able to catch a grayling, but as far as a traget species that I am after -- It's still a splake. Even though I have already caught some on a fly, I'm still targeting them. I have caught numerous that would be a catch and release state record, but what I am really after is a catch and release state record that is bigger than the state record 32 1/4". It's going to happen.....

So far this year I've caugth Wiper, perch, largemouth, bluegill, whitefish, brown, brook, rainbow, tiger. Don't know what points I'm at. I think I also might have caught a cutt, can't remember.
Looking for smallmouth, cat, crappie, walleye, carp, splake, lake trout, and that elusive grayling.
3 trout (Browns, cuts, and rainbows) smallmouth bass, perch, carp, I'm still working on my tiger muskie.
