Well, one of the next fish on my list is Splake. I've heard that Moon Lake is a good place to catch one. I'm really thinking of checking it out on Saturday and would like any suggestions. Has anyone fished for Splake at Moon Lake? What flies work best? Depth? Where to fish?
Anybody up for a trip to Moon Lake on Saturday?

Moon Lake is an awesome place although the water level has been really low the past couple of years. Try dark wooley buggers and cover lots of ground until you find the fish and then troll through the area back and forth. Fast fishing can be had at times. I have always seen more Bows than Splake. One place for splake that gets overlooked is the South Fork of the Ogden right under Causey dam. You can get them on dries in the evening. Good Luck!

I will be close by at Upper Stillwater Res and would love to get over there, but being there with the scouts not sure I will make it.

What is it with big, bald, and goateed in this family? Has Greg always been the statistical outlier? :)

well with Greg the Goatee comes and goes. Mine just stays there. and with baldness. Greg tries to hide his. I just shave my head and call it good. And I am not sure how Moke has managed to keep all of his. but he is one shaggy dude. (Moke is a cousin on our moms side)

Well, it looks like our plans have changed. Me and few guys will probably be fishing Starvation instead and going for smallies and walleye. Moon Lake will have to wait a couple weeks. Doug, you're more than welcome to come along.
Hey Jason
I went to Moon Lake for the first time ever last week. The fishing was only fair for mostly small fish. But I did have a Grand Slam of types.
Brooks
Splake
Rainbows
and
Kokanee (My first ever).
The splake was about 15 inches but everything else was under 12 inches.
Pretty Lake but I probably won't be in a hurry to get back there for the fishing. BUt it was worth the trip to catch my first ever Kokanee.
