Here it is, now we can quit guessing.
Over the past several days, flows of the Yampa River have increased dramatically. It appears that the peak of the Yampa River will likely occur at any time in the near future.
As prescibed in the Reasonable and Prudent Alternative (RPA) of the Biological Opinion on the Operation of Flaming Gorge Dam, a spring peak release is to be made when the Yampa River peaks. In order to achieve this requirement of the RPA, releases from Flaming Gorge Dam will
be ramped up to powerplant capacity according to following schedule.
Date/Time Initial Final Change
May 18,2003 21:00 800 1600 +800
May 18,2003 22:00 1600 2300 +700
May 19,2003 10:00 2300 3100 +800
May 19,2003 11:00 3100 3800 +700
May 20,2003 00:00 3800 ~4600 ~+800
Note that all times are Moutain Daily Savings Time (MDT). Shortly after midnight (00:00 MDT) on May 20, 2003, releases from Flaming Gorge Dam will likely be approximately 4600 cfs. Releases shall remain at this level until further notice.
