I remember a while back the thread on rubber legged buggers and them being something worth trying for an avid wooly bugger fan. I have a question on how the legs are typically done on these files. Is it best to tie the legs in a single plane like typical nymph legs or to tie them all around the fly similar to a rubber hackle? I have tried a web search for pattern ideas without much luck and would appreciate any ideas. Any ideas on which may work better?

in Montana and Wyoming the hook is often covered with lead and then the legs are tied in perpendicular to the hook. The tail (if one is used) is added then the body material.

Rubber legs have not really made much of a difference on my bugger patterns. I've used rubber legs on Cicada and Stone Fly patterns with a lot of sucess though. I like to tie in at least six under the dubbing. I don't think the fish can count. I think natural movement and presentation are more the key to your streamer presentation. IMHO.
