I'm getting my crappie, blue-gill and smallie patterns tied up and I came across an article on tying flies on micro-jigs. Anyone ever tried this? How hard are they to cast? I'm sure micro-jigs might offend some purists, but they look like decent flies to me.
thanks for any info.
I used to cast small jigs on my fly rod when fishing for crappies. 6 weight or larger works well. You have to cast with wider loops similar to some of the weighted nymph rigs. Fun. Fun. Fun.

I used to fish them on an ultralite spinning rods on the very small (2-3 ft wide) streams. A Hare's Ear on a white head used to be an awesome performer for me. Think of them as a bead head with the hook eye at the top instead of the front.
