Does anyone have a killer cicada pattern? I've searched alot of the online fly tying sites and haven't found much on cicadas.

to send up a couple of rockets for RAW and Jason, but there are others who might help.

I have not seen it in any shops except in Utah and almost soley for the Green.

The absolute best 4 day fishing trip to the Green was several years ago when the Cicadas were out in mass. A friend and I were camped down by Indian Crossing and when we unlocked the code it was almost one fish after the other, I kid you not.

What I like to call '007' fishing. :-)

This is the one I've been using:

LOOPED FOAM CICADA

Hook: Size 8-12 1X long dry fly hook
Thread: Black
Body: Black closed-cell sheet foam
Underwing: Crystal Flash
Overwing: Elk hair
Head: Black or orange closed-cell sheet foam
Legs: If black head use orange rubber, if orange head use black rubber

Cut a piece of foam into a 1/4-inch wide piece, bend it in half and tie it in at just forward of mid-shank. This forms a loop style body.

Tie in some crystal flash. Trim it so it is even with the body.

Stack and tie in some elk hair, even or slightly longer than the body.

Cut another 1/4-inch wide by 1-inch piece of foam Poke a hole through the center. Push the foam over the eye of the hook. Fold it down on top and bottom like a bullet-head, bind it down. Add rubber legs on each side. Whip finish.

check the Fly Tying file.

There is one called the Green River Cicada and I think the Club Sandwich is also used as a Cicada imitation.
