View Full Version : Weber
Anyone been to the Weber in Wanship, or below Echo? Is 26cfs too depressing to bother?
Cheers

Hi rwt,
The short answer is go for it!!!!!! I have fished between Echo and Rockport and above Petterson about 10 times during the last month and the water flow has been at that level all that time. I have had very good success every trip.

Fished both above Echo and Devil's Slide areas yesterday afternoon. Had two rank beginners with me, water was really muddy from the storms, the wind was howling, the sun was out & too bright, it was cold, etc.
Probably obvious by now that it was my WORST day on the Weber this year. 0 browns, 0 whities, 5 or 6 windknots by the newbies (one REALLY good one - had to cut the leader off).
On the bright side, a buddy new to flyfishing, knee-deep in the river with way too much line out, no clue what "slack" means, a perfect "9 o'clock backcast", the wind blowing, what a hoot!!! Thank god he's a good sport and very determined - ready to go again.
We're working hard on his "technique", especially that dreadful backcast... Quite the comedy, but we had fun.

Oh well....

I'm surprised you had a bad day on the Weber. I was up there and despite the muddy water I had one of my best days.

Thanks for the ego boost, Icthys. :-) What was the secret Sat.?
You know how it goes when your teaching, or more than likely I just had an off day - but we had fun.

Go deep. I've found that you need to get those flies down deep. It's funny because I had my uncle with me and he didin't do so well. With that muddy water try bigger brighter flies.
Good luck
