View Full Version : Glasses
Just curious as to how many of you need help seeing the small stuff when tying. I will be 48 this year and I have to wear a pair of 2.75 power reading glasses to tie up small stuff (20,22) especially. I also keep a pair in my chest pack for tying on small dries. (I purchased a magnifying lamp a couple of years ago but did not like tying with it) It sucks getting old!!!

So Ed... Do your glasses have rhinestones around the edges? And yes, you are all old farts, or would it be old Farti?

Larry S. has a pretty cool head piece he wears when tying.

with any luck you may survive long enough to become one.
BRY: The alterative may be less fun.
Maybe getting older ain't all that bad. It does not take me nearly as long to think a problem through and come up with a solution. It easier to listen to others thoughts. It's easier to see "s&%t" headed your way and step aside. Putting together a sucessful day on the water STILL means preparation but now you're more prepared to begin with.
Plus you are building a large data file of memories.
Most of them pretty fine.

Bought a pair at SW that really fit the bill. slim and fit in a little case &perfect for the vest. - they say Dr. Dean O'Dell something or other on the inside of the paddles & are available in all mag. levels. Around $7 and work well even over your polarized sunglasses.
Won't try wading again with my progressive lenses on (read bifocals), you that wear 'em know what I mean.
Five or so years ago, I would make a point of pissing off my "older" friends by tying on a #20 in the twilight, now a #16 at arms length is a chore without my cheaters!!!
Turning 40+ is hard on the ol' eyes...

Does it mean I'm too old if I have to have florescent parachute posts on my dry flies? My son says F.A.R.T. means "Fathers Against Radical Teenagers"
